The Clay City girls basketball team swept out to a big first half advantage and despite a rally by White River Valley, picked up a 50-36 road victory on Monday evening.
The Eels got 17 first half points from Whitney McWilliams on the way to a 27-12 lead at halftime. However, in the fourth quarter, the Wolverines got seven of Dani Lammert's 20 points to make a brief run before succumbing to the Eels.
Sarah Kennedy hit all four of her fourth period free throws and the Eels hit 17-of-21 as a team for the game to extend their record to 3-2 overall.
McWilliams led the way with 23 points with Kennedy adding 13 for Clay City.
In the JV game, the Eels dropped their first of the season by a 41-38 score.
Next up for the Eels is a home game on Thursday versus Riverton Parke at 6 p.m.
