Knights earn volleyball honors

The Northview volleyball team recently passed out season ending awards to the above players for the 2005 season. Award winners include: (Above l-r) Brittney Spugnardi, Heather Palmer, Lindsay Thomas, Lottie King, Kaley Huffman and Christy Fulk.

- 2005 team breaks season and career marks

Twenty-seven times this year the Northview volleyball team walked off the court as winners on the way to one of the best season's in school history. The Knights blended talent and experience into a tie for the Western Indiana Conference championship, a repeat of their 2004 title. Recently, the squad awarded players for their accomplishments for the year.

Christy Fulk, Lindsay Thomas and Brittney Spugnardi each were a captain for the squad.

A senior this year, Fulk was an All-WIC player for the Knights and was a valuable part of the Northview attack during her career. She holds the career mark of 292 blocks. Her classmate, Spugnardi, finishes her career as the all-time leader in digs for a season at 277 and in a career with 397.

A sophomore this year, Thomas won the assist award and is also an all conference performer. She broke her own single season assist mark with 902 this season to best her 2004 total of 890 and holds the career record as well.

Sophomore Kaley Huffman broke Spugnardi's single season mark of 2002 service points by two at 204 and won the dig award this year. She also is an all conference athlete for the Knights.

Lottie King rang up 317 kills this season to beat her old mark of 293 and also set the record for blocks at 148 as an All-WIC player and won the block and kill award for the Knights. She also holds the career mark for kills with 608 after two seasons.

Kyler Clark won the service ace award for the team and Heather Palmer was the Mental Attitude winner for the Knights.

The 27-5 Knights were co-conference champs with Sullivan at 5-1 and were the winners of the Crawfordsville Tourney.
