Heather Palmer competed in the John F. Hennessey Open recently, one of the top tennis tournaments in the Midwest.
Northview senior Heather Palmer recently competed in the John F. Hennessey tennis tournament in Indianapolis where she had a strong showing in one of the Midwest's top tournaments.
Palmer opened the tournament with a victory over Mallory Nelson of Brownsburg, 6-2, 6-0 before earning a 6-1, 6-0 win over Cecelia Starkey also of Brownsburg in the second round.
Facing Mary Beth Winningham of Park Tudor High School, Palmer was unable to get the win against the Panthers senior who was unbeaten last season in high school competition. Park Tudor was the state champion as a team last season.
Winningham went on to win the John F. Hennessey Open championship with a win over Maureen Modesto by injury default.
