Third quarter burst spurs Artesians past Knights

Northview got another look at a sectional championship contender on Thursday night, dropping a 71-48 decision to host Martinsville.

The Artesians broke open a one-point halftime game by outscoring the Knights 28-7 behind a career-high 31 point night from Jessica Breeden who was also a thorn in the side for the Northview volleyball team.

Martinsville (12-2) also outshot the Knights from behind the arc, drilling seven 3-pointers in the game. The Knights did get a season and career-high 21 points from freshman Spring Raines and 19 from Julie Whitted.

The loss ended a five-game winning streak for the Knights (7-6 overall). Northview will remain on the road to face Danville on Thursday night.
