North Clay's wrestling team improved to 5-2 on the season in dual matches with a 79-40 win over visiting Sullivan.

The Knights did well by earning seven forfeits against Sullivan with Austin Bell following up a 4-0 victory by Caleb Nicosin at 70 pounds with his own forfeit victory at 75 pounds.

Also winning by forfeit were Trent Montague, Luke Pingleton, Austin Sciotto, Carson Craft, Jordan Nelson and Tommy Holifield.

Skyler Hall earned the second victory for the Knights, recovering from an early 2-0 deficit with an escape and a penalty point against Sullivan for a technical violation. Hall would jump ahead with another penalty point and then continued to add to his lead with near fall points in the second and third periods.

At 115 pounds, Levi Stearley put his opponent on his back for a pin as did Conor Strain in his match at 130 pounds.

Broc Potter would continue with his own win, going up 5-0 in the first period and then added extra points in the second period to lead 8-0 before a third period pin earned the Knights six points.

After Nelson and Holifield picked up forfeit victories, Brad Powell took down his opponent in the first period for a 2-0 lead, but lost a point for an illegal hold. However, it wouldn't matter because he put his opponent on his back for a pin and another six points for the Knights.

"Were doing pretty good," commented coach Chris Walker of his team. "We still have some things to work on but we learning the basics."

That's even more key for a team that includes 55 wrestlers, with approximately 35 as first time competitors in the field. However, Walker feels his team is making strides already.

"Earlier this year we had some wrestlers who had a problem with reaching back, but tonight I don't think I saw anyone do that. Sometimes it's good to have a first-year wrestler because they don't have any bad habits to break. We're just going to keep improving and working hard."
