Northview standouts Brady Shoemaker and T.J. King are enjoying a big Spring for the Olney Central (Ill.) Blue Knights.

The Blue Knights returned from the Spring Break trip through Florida with a 16-2 mark after going 7-1 on their southern swing.

Shoemaker is currently red hot after helping propelling OCC to a 16-3, 13-3 sweep of Quinsigamond Junior College of Boston on Friday and ending their trip with a 28-8 pounding of Mott College of Flint, Mich. on Saturday.

The 2005 grad went 3-for-3 in the second game win over Qinsigamond and added three RBIs in the 10-run win. In the Saturday contest, Shoemaker pounded out a 5-for-6 day with six runs driven in.

Prior to leaving for Florida, the Blue Knights swept a pair of games against South Suburban College of Chicago, 5-0 and 10-7.

Shoemaker went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the first game.

At Winterhaven, OCC won a pair of games against Weber College as King drilled three hits with three RBIs and Shoemaker combined to go 5-for-6 with six RBIs in the twin killing.

Next up for the Blue Knights is the opening of Great Rivers Athletic Conference action when they host John A. Logan on Saturday.

Matt Lash, also a former Northview player, has gone 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI for Rose-Hulman this season but has struggled some on the mound, compiling a 13.50 ERA in two appearances. He's gone two innings while allowing three earned runs and has struck out one batter.

Indiana State University left hander Ryan Hayes, a former Knight, threw six scoreless innings in a Wednesday shutout of visiting Valparaiso.

Hayes allowed just four hits while striking out three to post his second win of the year for the 6-5 Sycamores.
