The North Clay wrestling team has split their last two dual matches, dropping a hard fought 54-46 decision to Owen Valley last week before rebounding for a convincing 76-26 win over Southmont on Tuesday.

The Knights wasted little time jumping on the Mounties, winning the first nine weight classes and posted bonus points in seven of those nine. Also of note in the match was Brad Powell's win at 180 pounds as he stuck Kyle McCormick on his back for a pin in an eye popping 10 seconds. That followed what was an impressive 30 second pin by Tommy Holifield at 165 pounds against Jordan Phillips.

North Clay began the evening with a couple of forfeits at 70 and 75 pounds as Caleb Nicosin and Austin Bell got the decisions and Skyler Hall hustled his way to a 10-1 major decision against Tony Zuk of Southmont. Both Austin Sciotto and Pat Durcholz were forfeit recipients and Luke Pingleton followed by earning an 8-4 win at 100 pounds.

Tony Cooksey drilled Josh Pointer for a 15-0 tech fall decision at 105 and Eric Hamblen scraped by in a 2-0 win against Jeremiah Anderson.

Southmont earned their first win of the night with a fall at 115 before Brandon Mikesell held on to a 2-0 win at 120 pounds. Southmont followed with a tech fall, but the Knights added a 4-2 win by Broc Potter at 130 pounds.

The Mounties won three straight at 135, 140 and 145 before Brady Silvers stopped the run for North Clay with a pin in 1:57 against Jesse Martin. Holifield and Powell followed with their quick pins and Brandon Pleake added a 7-0 decision before Beau Judd finished the evening with a forfeit win.

Against Owen Valley, North Clay put together a pair of three match winning streaks, but the Patriots proved to be just a little too much in the middle classes.

Caleb Nicosin, Austin Bell and Skyler Hall all earned decision to open the match againt the Patriots and Tommy Holifield, Brad Powell and Brady Silvers earned late victories for the Knights. Also winning for North Clay were Luke Pingleton via pin and both Cole Dickison and Eric Hamblen received forfeits. Broc Potter won his match by an 8-1 score for North Clay.
