The Northview baseball team continued to show off their offensive prowess this season, by pounding out a 23-5, five-inning contest over South Putnam on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights rang up 11 runs in the first two innings and then followed with an 11 run third inning on their way to a 23-5 victory over the Eagles.
Northview got plenty of power in the game with Austin Bryan leading the way with an impressive 3-for-3 afternoon that included a pair of doubles, a home run and seven RBIs. Keaton Robertson continued his own power surge, drilling his third home run of the season and Chase Yocom had three hits in four at-bats along with a home run.
John Reberger chipped in with a pair of hits, three runs scored and two RBIs and Cody Crooks added another three hits in four trips to the plate. Kyle Pestoff also homered for Northview in the victory.
Northview (3-0 overall, 2-0 WIC) will host Bloomington North on Tuesday evening at 5 p.m.
Ryne Barr owned the South Putnam Eagles with a dominating 16 strikeout, no-hitter as part of a 10-0 win in six innings.
"He had a great curve ball going and they had no answer for it," commented JV coach Scott McDonald. "He has done a great job of improving from last year and this performance is a symbol of his hard work."
The Northview offense was led by JJ Smerdel who had a pair of hits with a home run and Matt Deakins also contributed a pair of hits for the Knights. Kyle Girton added a pair of RBIs for the Knights.
"I was also pleased with the work of Kyle Pestoff behind the plate," noted McDonald. "He did a great job blocking pitches that South Putnam was chasing."
The JV Knights will play in a B-team/C-team doubleheader tonight at home beginning at 5 p.m.
