The Clay City baseball team evened their season mark at 2-2 overall with an 11-5 victory over host White River Valley on Thursday evening.
The Eels got a 15 strikeout performance from Andre Hayes and used a seven run fourth inning to cruise to the victory despite eight errors in the field.
The Wolverines committed seven errors themselves and that, coupled with a 3-for-4 performance from Matt Vansickle, including a triple and four RBIs led the Eels to the win.
Kyler Rhodes added two hits for Clay City who will host Shakamak on Monday evening at 4:30 p.m.

Clay City Softball
The Clay City Eels earned their first softball win of the season under the leadership of new head coach Roger Rhodes.
The Eels scored five runs over the course of the first two innings and pitcher Tasha Collengaugh allowed single runs over four different frames as Clay City won 9-4.
Kayla Baumgartner had four hits for the Eels and scored four runs, adding an RBI in the victory. Chelsea Hane added a pair of hits and drove home a run and Emily Reed contributed two more hits and an RBI.
The Clay City JV also was victorious, winning 5-1.
