The Clay City girls track team swept the throwing events on the way to a tri-meet victory at South Putnam on Tuesday. The Eels scored 82 points to beat the host Eagles' 59 followed by Shakamak at 24.
Kasey Waite was the winner of the discus followed by Jackie Sands and Sabrina Liechty. In the shot, Liechty took the victory followed by Sands and Brittney Glass.
Rachael Narlock scored a victory in the high jump and longjump and was second in the 300 hurdles as well as a member of the winning 400 relay team along with Megan Vansickle, Andrea Ladd and Shawna Vencel. Vansickle won the 400 for the Eels.
Ladd also had a big day for the Eels, winning the 100 meters and the 200. Vencel was second to Ladd in the 200 and 100 meters.
Rebeccca Seymour was the runnerup in the 100 hurdles and long jump. Monique Rashard was fourth in the 100 hurdles. Hannah Moore was the first place finisher in the 800.
Missy and Molly McHenry went three/four in the 3,200 meters with Missy in the fourth place slot in the 1,600.
Clay City bested Shakamak but lost to South Putnam in a triangular boys track meet Tuesday at Putnamville. The Eagles scored 73 followed by Clay City at 61 and Shakamak scored 35.
The Eels notched 61 total points and posted four first places finishes, topping their competition in 110 meter high hurdles (Cole Schroer), shotput (Andrew Marrs), discus (Marrs again) and the 3200 meter relay (Adam Schroer, Logan Bettenbrock, Braxton Griffith and Kevin Cook).
Clay City (2-2) will square off against Sullivan and Bloomfield Thursday at Sullivan.
