North Clay's girls track team came up just short against a tough Honey Creek squad on the road Wednesday evening, falling 55-45.
The Knights stayed strong in the field events, getting a second place from Samantha Solomon in the shotput with Raven Enders and Jaclyn Linton going 2-3 in the long jump for the Knights. Ashley Roll took third in the high jump after a jumpoff.
On the track, sixth grader Alyssa Conrad won both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter events running against girls in seventh and eighth grade from Honey Creek. Corey Laue was second in the 1,600 and was third in the 800. Hannah Pond was a winner in the 100 hurdles with teammate Ali Thomas in third place. Emily Phillips was the runnerup in the 100 meters followed by Brittney Schlegel in third.
With the team scores still tight, North Clay got a strong 200 meter finish from Pond who was second followed by Linton in third. Carlee Bell and Enders were second and third in the 400 meters.
The final event of the evening was the 1,600 relay and the team of Phillips, Laue, Enders and Bell were victorious to create the final margin.
North Clay 2-1 on the season will travel to Sarah Scott on Monday evening.
