Knights earn diamond victories

The Northview Knights improved to a perfect 9-0 this season and 6-0 in the WIC with a 19-7 victory over host South Vermillion on Wednesday.

The Knights got 3-run home runs from John Reberger and Jared Lumsdon in the game and Jesse Johnson went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double. Keaton Robertson added three hits in five at-bats for the Knights who are currently ranked 10th in Class 4A.

Northview freshman softball

In game two, Northview's bats stayed hot, outscoring Terre Haute North by a 12-4 score as Katie Smith went all five innings for the victory. Smith struck out five batters in the game.

At the plate, Shelby Colson and Erica Lee each had doubles for the Knights with Alex Wallen drilling two singles along with Misti Rissler. Ashlyn Yocom had a base hit along with Smith, Lee, Erica Matson and Kirstin Kimball.

Northview is now 2-0 on the season and will take on Terre Haute South on the road Monday beginning at 5 p.m.
