Knights sweep past Wildcats on the hard court

Playing a bit shorthanded with No. 1 singles player Heather Palmer recuperating an injured back, Northview rallied together for a convincing victory over visiting South Vermillion on Thursday night.

The Knights swept all five matches while losing just six games to earn a 5-0 victory over the Wildcats.

Madason Stevenson, taking over at No. 1 singles, showed her 'A' game by whitewashing Ashley Stewart by a 6-0, 6-0 score and No. 2 player Sarah Cox did the game for the Knights, defeating Hannah Henry by an identical 6-0, 6-0 count. Over at No. 3 singles, Jazmine Kellum put together a nice game in defeating Jenni McLeigh by a 6-2, 6-1 score.

In doubles action, Northview got a 6-2, 6-0 win from Ramey Hayes and Kristen Hauser with Kellsy Maurer and Abby Smith defeating Chelsea Powell and Lauren Abriani by a 6-1, 6-0 score.

The Knights also put together a dominating JV effort to take nine out of 10 matches.

In singles play, Chelsea Mershon swept past Andrea Mele, 8-0, and Kayla Cooper did the same to Caitlin Stateler.

At No. 1 doubles for the JV team, Cari Laue and Allie Melega defeated Lisa Nepote and Amanda Sudduth 8-1.

The Knights will host Owen Valley in their next match on Tuesday.
