Clay City can't translate hits into runs versus Turkey Run

Despite a a pair of two hit afternoons from Emily Reed and Chelsea Hane, the Clay City Eels weren't able to translate those hits to the scoreboard in a 4-1 Saturday loss to Turkey Run.

Reed doubled and drove in the Eels lone run and Hane had three stolen bases while Kayla Baumgartner had a hit, scored the Eels' run and stole two bases.

Tasha Collenbaugh got the loss for the Eels, allowing six hits, four earned runs while striking out five batters.

The Eels opened the scoring on Saturday, as Baumgartner bunted for a single and stole second to move into scoring position. Reed then doubled to the rightcenterfield gap to give the Eels a 1-0 lead.

Turkey Run responded in their half of the fourth inning however, scoring all of their runs in the frame on four singles and two walks. The Eels would leave seven runners on base.

Clay City drops to 3-4 overall this season and will host North Central on Monday followed by a home game versus Linton on Tuesday.
