Northview hosted the JV Invitational on Saturday, splitting a pair of games with Martinsville and Brown County.
The Knights dropped their opener 11-7 to the Artesians despite a pair of doubles from Nick Lancaster and a home run from Jordan Pond. According to coach Scott MacDonald, "Defensively we made some mistakes that cost us some critical runs. Our pitching was not really effective as we had trouble finding the strike zone. In the previous games, I saw some real improvement, today we seem to take a couple of steps back."
Northview came back in the second game to pound out an 11-1 win over the Eagles to round out the afternoon.
Alex Smith had a pair of hits, including a triple, and Ryne Barr contributed a pair of hits with three walks and got the win on the mound for the Knights. Nick Lancaster added another double in the game.
The Knights have little time to rest as they travel to West Vigo this evening at 7 p.m.
