North Clay's girls track team, fresh off a Western Indiana Conference championship earned on Saturday, added another victory in a tri-meet with Riverton Parke and Cascade on Tuesday night.
The boys team also earned a victory in North Clay's final home meet of the season.
The girls squad got first place finishes from Carlee Bell in the 400 (1:03) just days after lowering her own school mark in the event at the WIC meet. She broke her own record with a time of 1:02.1.
Bell also was a member of the 1,600 relay team with Emily Phillips, Corey Laue and Ali Sharton, who ran the event for the first time on Tuesday. The foursome ran a time of 4:40.1 for the victory.
Phillips also was a winner in 100 (13.48) with Brittney Schlegel placing fourth. Laue was the 1,600 victor in a time of 6:14 followed by Shelby Bass in third place. Sharton was the runnerup in the 200 meters for the Knights, running a 29.38.
Alyssa Conrad won the 3,200 (13:30) followed by Hallie Harbison and in the discus, Caitlyn Beil was the winner with a throw of 73-3 followed by Samantha Solomon who was the shotput winner (29-1).
Annie Smiley took the runnerup spot in the high jump (4-7) and was a member of the winning 400 relay squad with Hannah Pond, Schlegel and Phillips (56.4). Smiley also was second in the 100 hurdles (18.62) followed by Pond.
In the boys meet, the Knights got event victories from Tanner Brown in the 800 (2:33), Nathan Maffioli in the 400 (59.8), Conor Strain took the 1,600 (5:37), Joel Whittington won the 100 hurdles (19.14) and Skyler Hall finished first in the 3,200 (12:19).
The Knights swept the 1,600 with Brown in second and Bret Jadvani in third and Chance Talbot was the runnerup in the 100 hurdles. Drake Stevenson was the runnerup in both the long jump (16-11), 100 meters (12.10) and 200 meters (26.15) as well as participating on the winning 400 relay team with Sean Hauser, Zac Niehaus and Zeb Thomas - 53.18).
The 1,600 relay team was also a winner with Maffioli joining Caleb Mershon, Damon Hyatt and Carson Kleiber, winning in 4:22.59. Mershon was third in the 400 meters as well.
In throwing events, Jordan Nelson was third in the discus (101-5).
Western Indiana Conference
The North Clay girls piled up 113 points to best second place Edgewood in the WIC meet on Saturday.
The Knights got first place finishes from Bell, who broke her own school record in the 400 meters. Phillips took the 100 meter title (13.9) and 800 meters (2:35.1). Solomon won the shotput with a heave of 30-1 1/4 and Smiley was the victor in the high jump, clearing 4-4 and was the runnerup ahead of Pond in the 100 hurdles.
Both the 400 and 1,600 relay teams were conference winners as well.
Linton placed third in the high jump with a leap of 13-5 and Conrad was the 1,600 winner in 5:55.4.
Brown County was third (78), Owen Valley was fourth (71) ahead of Sullivan (37) and South Vermillion (4).
In the boys meet, North Clay slid to fifth overall and were led by a second place spot by Stevenson in the long jump (16-10 1/2). Stevenson also added a fifth place in both the 200 and 100 meters. Nelson was fourth in the high jump (5-0) and Conor Strain was fourth in the 1,600. Maffioli was fifth in the 400 (58.8).
