The IHSAA Softball Sectional draw gave area high schools a definitive path in the postseason beginning with state-wide games beginning on May 22.
The Northview Knights will kick off their postseason with a team that they are very familiar with this year, Terre Haute North.
The Knights, who play take part in the Mooresville Sectional, won their second straight contest versus the Patriots on Tuesday evening, 6-0, following a 5-0 win over North during the Big Four Tourney on Saturday.
Clay City has the luxury of hosting their Class A sectional, however, their opponent is rival Shakamak and former head coach Amy Hammond who owns a 5-4 victory over the Eels near the beginning of the season.
The Eels have a little extra motivation against the Lakers since they were defeated in the sectional title game by Shakamak, 5-4.
At the Mooresville Sectional in Class 4A, the winner of the Terre Haute North vs. Northview contest will take on the winner of the other first round game, Terre Haute South and Martinsville, the defending state champion.
The game will be a rematch of last season's sectional championship game in which the Artesians defeated South by a 2-0 score.
The Knights lost to Mooresville in the first round last year, 2-0 in 11 innings.
Drawing the bye in the first round is Mooresville and Plainfield who will square off in the semifinals.
At Clay City, the other first round game is Union (Dugger) versus North Central with Bloomfield and White River Valley receiving the bye round game.
