MOORESVILLE -- The Northview Knights broke the jinx Monday night, defeating the Terre Haute North Patriots for the third time this year 6-1 in the high school girls fast-pitch softball sectional at Mooresville on Monday.

"It's not done yet ladies," catcher Kayla Raderstorf said as the Knights gathered for their post-game meeting with coach Bethany Jones.

"They were pumped up. Tomorrow [Tuesday] they know we've got Martinsville now and they'll be pumped up for that and I expect their game will go to a whole different level. It usually does when we play Martinsville or Terre Haute South," Jones said.

Northview's Stephanie Jonson (19-6), with the help of a strong defense, dominated the first four innings. Thanks to a double play off a Terre Haute North bunt attempt, Jonson faced the minimum number of batters (12) through four innings. North's Courtney Goss broke up the no-hitter in the fifth.

Jonson struck out nine, walked one and allowed North just three hits.

"Stephanie pitched a great game tonight," Jones.

Erica Conrad and Kayla Raderstorf got Northview out to a 2-0 lead.

In the first inning, Conrad ripped a two-out single, wen to second on a North error and scored on a double by Raderstorf. Conrad doubled with two out in the third inning and sprinted home on a Raderstorf single.

Northview broke the contest open with a three-run fifth inning. Kyler Clark led off the fifth with a double, Kayla Glassburn received a walk and Jennifer Gregg singled to bring in Clark. Conrad hit a ball back up the middle, but a North error allowed Glassburn to score.

Raderstorf followed with a line drive right back on North pitcher Brittney Isom. It hit right in the middle of Isom's glove, but injured the pitcher's hand. Raderstorf was thrown out at first by the second baseman, but Isom was assisted off the field. Gregg scored Northview's third run on a infield ground out by Traci Sanders.

Jones said the Knights didn't play bad in the sectional win.

"We've still got a lot to work on some things. We still need to be a little more selective on our pitches," Jones said..
