Clay County 12-year-old All-Stars wins June Bash

In game 1 on Thursday, the Clay County 12-year-old All-Stars pounded the Cloverdale 12s 14-4 in four innings. Jordan Girton led the way with three hits, Bryant Pestoff added a home run and a double, Kole Smith a double and Kodie Girton and Travis Hakman each had a pair of hits. Zach Hull was the winning pitcher going 3 innings with Jordan Girton closing with 1 inning of relief.

In Game 2 on Friday, the Clay County 12-year-old All-Stars pounded the North Putnam 12s 15-1 in four innings. Jordan Girton had a pair of hits, Zach Hull, Kodie Girton and Tanner Glenn each had doubles, Bryant Pestoff and Coleman Craig each added a home run and a single, while Ben Denker, Cam Guy, Travis Hakman, Brett Jadvani and Tyler Wilson added singles. Jordan Girton was the winning pitcher going 3 innings and Coleman Craig pitched 1 inning in relief.

In Game 3 on Saturday, the Clay County 12-year-old All-Stars out-manned Mattoon, Ill., 12s 17-2 in four innings. Kodie Girton had a home run and a single, Bryant Pestoff had a pair of doubles, Ben Denker had 2 hits, Tanner Glenn a double and a single, Travis Hakman had a pair of hits followed by Coleman Craig and Brett Jadvani who added singles. Kodie Girton was the winning pitcher going four innings in the victory.

In Game 4 on Sunday, the Clay County 12-year-old All-Stars ousted Greencastle 12-2 in five innings. Jordan Girton had 3 hits, Zach Hull had two doubles and a single, Kodie Girton added a double, Bryant Pestoff hit his 3rd home run of the tournament, Coleman Craig followed with his 2nd home run of the tournament, Tanner Glenn had a pair of hits, Ben Denker, Cam Guy, Kole Smith each contributed a single. Zach Hull was the winning pitcher going 4 innings in the win with Kodie Girton pitching 1 inning in relief.

Game 5 on Monday paired up Clay County against North Putnam. The Clay County 12-year-old All-Stars once again defeated North Putnam 18-5 in five innings. Jordan Girton had a pair of hits, Zach Hull had a double, Kodie Girton added his second home run of the tournament and a single, Bryant Pestoff hit his fourth home run, Tanner Glenn had a double and a single, Brett Jadvani and Kole Smith added doubles, Travis Hakman had a pair of hits and Cam Guy, Ben Denker and Tyler Wilson each added singles. Jordan Girton was the winning pitcher going four innings with Kodie Girton pitching one inning in relief.

The championship game paired the Clay County 12-year-old All-Stars against the Clay County Knights. The Clay County All-Stars would out last the Knight 6-4 to win the 12 and under Clay County June Bash.

Jordan Girton and Bryant Pestoff had a pair of hits, Ben Denker and Cam Guy each contributed a hit in the victory. Coleman Craig pitched three innings with Zach Hull pitching three innings in relief to get the win.

Coaches Joe Pestoff, Jon Hull and Joe Hakman felt this was a great win in getting the team ready for the district playoffs. The Clay County All-Stars have grown accustom to winning hard fought tournaments against quality rivals. They have two state championships under their belt and are the first Clay Youth League team in its 39 years of existence to represent Clay County in the Cal Ripken World Series. They further represented Clay County last year in the Ohio Valley tournament and are anxiously ready to pursue their third state championship. They are lead by Zach Hull, Jordan Girton, Bryant Pestoff and Coleman Craig who have twice been named to the all Indiana State All-Star team. In addition, they have eight other quality and talented players in Kodie Girton, Tanner Glenn, Brett Jadvani, Ben Denker, Cam Guy, Travis Hakman, Kole Smith and Tyler Wilson.
