Reberger, a 2006 Northview graduate, had an explosive senior season for the Knights, who defied modest expectations to finish with a 24-4 record. He posted a batting average approaching .500 and finished among the top 20 players in the state in two offensive categories-- RBI (41) and doubles (14)-- but may have turned the most heads when he took the mound.
An off-season shake-up of Northview's pitching staff forced several inexperienced Knights into the rotation. Reberger responded, pitching to a 4-0 season mark while posting a stingy 1.94 ERA.
"We had some spots open up, and I just went in and did my best," he said.
On Tuesday, Reberger showed off his award to Knights Coach Gary Witham, who finished the '06 season with some hardware of his own.
Witham was named the Western Indiana Conference co-Coach of the Year, sharing the honor with Steve DeGroote of West Vigo High School. The award is presented each year to the skipper of the WIC championship team (Northview and West Vigo split the title in '06).
