TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rain in the area Friday hampered the 2006 "Indiana Sprint Week" finale at the Terre Haute Action Track, causing the race organizer to cancel the event.

The race was the second straight USAC National Sprint Car Series race canceled by a track due to the threat of rain or precipitation on the ground.

Jon Stanbrough was proclaimed the five-race champion, as he won the final three races of the series at Tri-State, Kokomo and Gas City I-69 Speedways. Stanbrough, of Jamestown, Ind., is the first native Hoosier to win the midsummer swing since Dave Darland in 2001.

The next event on the USAC National Sprint Car Series calendar is Aug. 6 at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill.
