With two starting members of their varsity lineup on the sidelines for various reasons, the Northview Knights put together a valiant battle before succumbing to visiting Bloomfield 4-1 in boys tennis.

The Knights lone win came from the doubles pairing of Matt Nodley and Adam Clark who beat Zer Hamm and Austin Schulte, 6-1, 6-2.

Northview's Austin Akers, playing at No. 1 singles, was a 7-5 winner in the first set before dropping a 4-6 decision to even the best-of-three series. When Akers fell back 4-1 the frustration appeared to be setting in for the sophomore. However, he bore down and gained the next two games to pull within 4-3. He would split the next two games to get within 5-4, but would eventually fall 4-6 in the deciding set after a strong battle.

Ryne Barr fell short of Bloomfield's Willis Scott in the No. 2 singles matchup and after winning the first set, 6-3, at No. 3 singles, Clint Grey would drop the next two sets, 0-6, 4-6.

In the No. 1 doubles spot, Jeremy Johnson and Brock Lawson dropped a 5-7, 4-6 match to Blake Byers and Travis Inman.

In JV action, Clint Reynolds split a pair of sets versus different opponents, winning the first, 6-1, and falling 2-6 in the second set.

The doubles pairings of Josh Miller and Keaton Robertson fell in their match as did Dylan Moore and Trent Sims.

Next up for Northview is a match tonight on the road against North Central at 5 p.m.
