Morgan Shepherd, 71, of Cloverdale died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Putnam County Hospital, Greencastle, Ind.

He was a retired regulator mechanic for Citizens Gas, Indianapolis.

Memberships included Faith Baptist Church, Cunot, Ind.

Born Sept. 8, 1931, in Logan W. Va., he was the son of James and Emily (Dempsey) Shepherd.

On June 10, 1955, he married Helen Jean (Skaggs) Shepherd.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Debra Book and husband John Kempf, of Cloverdale, Belinda Monnett and husband Robert of Brazil; sons Kerry Shepherd and wife Cindy of Cloverdale, Curtis (Duke) Shepherd and wife Lori of Quincy, Ind., Michael Shepherd and wife Shari of Quincy, Ind., Kenneth Shepherd and wife Sabrina of Cloverdale; sisters Margie Martin of Quincy, Ind., Lucille Powers of Cloverdale, Libby Curry of Ohio; brothers Curtis Shepherd of Indianapolis, Clarence Shepherd of Sheridan, Ind; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Howard, Charles, Donald and Martin Shepherd.

Services are scheduled Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Pastor Wes McClure officiating. Burial will be in Combes Cemetery, Quincy, Ind.

Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
