The Rev. Mark Hamilton, 91, of Bedford, Ind., died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at 9:32 p.m. in his residence.
Born Aug. 31, 1911, in Irvine, Ky., he was the son of Hood and Lilly Nolan Hamilton. He married Louise Lloyd on June 5, 1939.
He was an evangelistic singer and minister and he pastored Nazarene churches in southern Indiana, Georgia and Kentucky, including 29 years in the Southwest Indiana District. He retired in 1980, but continued to minister as an interim pastor. He was District Sunday School Chairman for five years, served on the District Advisory Board for 14 years and was a delegate for Church of the Nazarene six times.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Jack, Hugh, Omer, Clay, Ray and Virgil Hamilton and two sisters, Fannie and Stella Hamilton.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Anita Mayhugh of Bedford; two granddaughters, Chiquita Ewert and husband Mark and Marquita Romero and husband Ben, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Garrett Mills, the Rev. Bill Reed and the Rev. Mark Bechtel officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell and from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
Casketbearers are Mark Ewert, Ben Romero, Kenneth Cox, Delbert Parnell, Chuck Mayhugh and Bucky Lloyd.
