Leona Marie Fairchild, 90, of Brazil, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at 12:55 p.m. at Clay County Health Center, where she has resided since May 2002.
She was born in Ft. Atkinson, Wisc., on Jan. 19, 1913. She was the daughter of Otto and Ella Hummitch Schultz, who preceded her in death.
She married Eugene Boyd Fairchild, who also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for the husband's business, National Shingle Company in Beloit, Wisc.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Delores Fairchild and Nancy Jean Jorgenson, and three sisters, Louise Schultz, Ella Brown and Adeline Winger.
Survivors include one son, Travis Eugene Fairchild and wife Ginny of Holt, Mich.; one daughter, Susan Lynn Logan and husband Thom of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren, David Hexter, Debra Bird, Rick Jorgenson, Scott Fairchild, Gary Jorgenson, Linda Swavey, Dennis Jorgenson, Phillip Jorgenson and Steven Jorgenson; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Dr. Frank Schultz and wife Hazel.
A memorial service will be July 12 at 2 p.m. at Lawson-Slack Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time. To honor her wishes, cremation will take place. Messages to the family may be made at www.lawson-slack.com.
