Robert R. "Bob" Griffith, 61, of Montrose, Colo., died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at the San Juan Living Center.

Born April 4, 1942, in Brazil, where he spent his childhood, graduated from high school and grew to adulthood. He then continued his education at Indiana State University and served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a retired credit supervisor for GMAC for 30 years.

He married Janet L. Wiley on Aug. 27, 1965.

Memberships included Elks Lodge, Rocky Mountain Elks foundation and the Arrowhead Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed tennis, golf, hunting, fishing and archery.

His parents are deceased.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jason Robert Griffith and daughter-in-law Erin Dreistadt of Nederland, Colo.; a daughter, Virginia L. Duckett and son-in-law Steven Jr. of Clifton, Va.; two granddaughters, Isabel Griffith and Paige Wiley Duckett; a sister, Barbara and husband Wilbur Jones of Brazil; two nieces; and a nephew.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402.
