Edward Leroy Pierpont, 81, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at St. Vincent's Hospice in Indianapolis. He has lived with his youngest son in Crawfordsville for the past five years.
He was the son of Nora Marlnee Pierpont Stewart and Roy Pierpont.
He married Thelma Keys Pierpont on July 5, 1941; she passed away in 1997. They lived most of their married life in Indianapolis and in Brazil.
He served in the Navy during World War II and followed his military service with 30 years ath Allison Division General Motors where he worked as a millwright. His memberships include UAW and American Bowling Congress.
Survivors include three children, Edward A. Pierpont, Kenny L. Pierpont and Sharon Pierpont Varner; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandcildren; and his younger sister, Ruth Randolph.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Stevens Mortuary, 10th Street, Indianapolis. Burial will be at Floral Park Mausoleum building, Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis. Friends and family may call at the mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday.
