Mable McDonald, 91, of Brazil, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Clay Health Center where she had been a resident for several years.
Born in Brazil on June 29, 1912, she was the daughter of Lucy and John Southerland. Mable graduated from Brazil High School in 1931 and worked briefly at Nance's Creamery in Brazil before marrying Ralph McDonald in 1946. Mable and Ralph were married 57 years. She attended Bethel United Methodist Church.
Mable was preceded in death by her parents, three infant siblings, severals aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph McDonald; sister-in-law Jane Bennett of Brazil; two cousins, Bonnie Jean New of Anderson and Rita and her husband Bill Hagerty of Monroe City; four nephews, William Shobe of Shoals, Robert Shobe of Cloverdale, Jim Plummer of Kokomo and John McDonald of Terre Haute; eight nieces, Mary Lee Steuerwald, Linda Messmer, Sharon Jones, Kathy Hood and Pam McShanog, all of Brazil, Nancy Trackwell of Colorado, Betsy Smith of Saginaw, Mich., and Mary Ellen Sorensen of Kenosha, Wis.; and special friends, Cecil and Mary Shobe.
Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ernie Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Cottage Hill Cemetery west of Brazil.
