Thomas H. Elmore, 79, of Brazil, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at 6 p.m. at the Clay Health Center in Brazil.
He was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Putnam County, the son of Cecil and Laura Smith Elmore, who have preceded him in death.
He attended Cloverdale Grade School and graduated from Quincy High School. He joined the 8th United States Air Force on March 17, 1943, and served until he was discharged on Jan. 26, 1950.
He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. In 1981, he retired from Western Electric after 31 years as a machine repairman. He was a member of the Pioneers Club of Western Electric.
He married Mary Gerber Jones on May 12, 1990.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Day Elmore, in 1982; three brothers, Warren "Ted" Elmore, Bud Elmore and Kenneth Elmore; one brother-in-law, Ted Gerber; and three sisters, virginia Elmore, Betty Jean Elmore and Irma Summers.
Surviving are his wife; one brother, John W. and wife Lynda Elmore of Punta Gorda, Fla.; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim Gerber of Harmony, Don and Mayme Johnson of Brazil, Virginia Church of Brazil and Ruth Elmore of Spencer; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lawson-Slack Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and again Monday from 8 a.m. to time of service. Burial will be at Clayton Cemetery in Clayton, Ind.
