Alberta Marie Cecil, 93, of Lebanon, Ind., died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at 1:20 p.m. in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Her death was due to natural causes.

Born in Brazil on Sept. 12, 1909, she was a daughter of the late George and Clara (Ailing) Wedel.

She married Carl A. Cecil in Marshall, Ill., on Jan. 22, 1934. He died in January 1973.

She was reared and educated in Brazil, where she graduated from Brazil High School. She attended The Brown's Business College. She lived in Terre Haute until 1989 when she moved to Lebanon. In 1995, she moved to Mooresville, Ind., for a couple years and then moved to Crawfordsville, Ind., before returning to Lebanon.

She had been a bookkeeper and buyer for 46 years with F. W. Woolworth in Terre Haute and retired in December 1974.

She enjoyed her family, sports and reading.

She was a member of Montrose Methodist Church in Terre Haute and was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 43 in Terre Haute.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Carol L.) Dale of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Scott Thomas of Lebanon and Tim Thomas of Crawfordsville; and four great-grandchildren.

Deceased are five brothers, Ernest, Elmer, Clifton, Oscar and Harold Wedel and three sisters, Ethel Hunter, Edna Huffman and Lena Perren.

Eastern Star graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute. No visitation is planned.
