Virgil Willen, 80, formerly of Clay City, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Grandview Convalescent Center in Martinsville, Ind.
Born April 15, 1923, in Sullivan County, he was the son of John Loy and Esther Faye Propts Willen, who are deceased.
On July 19, 1948, he married Phyllis Jean Lowe, who died on April 27, 1997.
He was employed as a press operator at Columbia Stamping Metal in Terre Haute for 28 years, retiring in 1979 and also farmed for many years.
Memberships included Beech Church in Coal City.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Loy Jr. Willen.
Survivors include a daughter, Julieanna Daniel and her husband Larry of Spencer, Ind.; four sons, Chris and fiancee Joyce Koster of Bloomington, Ind., Don and wife Deanna of Paragon, Ind., Mike and fiancee Tiffany Holmes of Spencer, Ind., and Brad of Patricksburg, Ind.; six grandchildren, Ann Carey, Samantha Carver, Lori Daniel, Joshua, Jessica and Michael Shane Willen; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eloise Mishler and Rosemary Query, both of Coal City; and a brother, Merl Willen of Indianapolis.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Clay City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Christman officiating. Burial will be in Beech Cemetery.
