Joy E. Sheese, 83, of Bowling Green, died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute
Born Sept. 22, 1919, in Clay County, he was the son of Silas Ellsworth and Stella Lillian Humble Sheese who have preceded him in death.
On Oct. 6, 1944, he married Mable Music in Carrollton, Ga.
He was a long time farmer in Owen Co. and also served as a sergeant in the Army Air Force and was stationed 2 1/2 years in the Canal Zone.
He enjoyed farming, reading and was a sports fan.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lee, Alfred, Fletcher and Ernie Sheese; two sisters, Pearl Polosky and Irene Moore.
Survivors include Mable Sheese, his wife of 59 years; two daughters, Elaine Walton and husband Michael of Greenville, Ind., and Debra Heiden and husband John of Fairview Heights, Ill.; three sons, Allen Sheese and wife Judy of Bowling Green, Dennis Sheese and wife Vicky of Bowling Green and Dale Sheese of Clay City; four grandsons, James Heiden, Kyle, Tristan and Caleb Sheese.
Visitation will be Friday, 4-8 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Clay City.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Larry Corns officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 6606 and American Legion Post 225.
