Mary Louise Aker, 79, of Carmel, Ind., formerly of Greencastle, Ind., passed away Saturday at the Carmel Care Rehabilitation Center in Carmel.

Born July 7, 1924, in Greencastle, she was the daughter of George Newton and Garnet (Sweet) Reynolds.

A graduate of Greencastle High School, Class of 1942, she married Paul W. Aker on July 23, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2003.

She had been a homemaker and worked with Western Union as a telegrapher. She was a member of the Madison Township Home Demonstration Club, Putnam County Amateur Radio Club and carried an Advanced Class license for amateur radio. She had also been a 4-H Club leader for several years and was a licensed pilot.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki L. Rollings and husband, Roger, of Carmel; a brother, G. William Reynolds and wife, Martha, of Indianapolis; a sister, Rosetta June Brown, of Ojai, Calif.; a granddaughter, Michelle R. Fowley and husband, Mat, of Westfield, Ind.; two grandsons, Patrick Isaac and Connor Allen Fowler of Westfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

Friends may call at the funeral home, 5-9 p.m. Tuesday.
