Mary Crooks Skene, 95, of Rockville, died at 11:45 a.m., Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 in Holy Hill Health Care and Rehabilitation in Brazil.
She was a retired nurses aid at the former St. Anthony's Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born June. 8, 1908 in Parke County, Ind. to the late Robert T. Crooks and Nancy Hulena Rigdon Crooks.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Henry Skene, on June 22, 1965. Survivors include one son, John H. Skene, of Indianapolis; She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Cooks.
She was a graduate of Raccoon Township School and Brown's Business School in Terre Haute. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Farmersburg, Ind. She was a 50 year member of Twelve Points Chapter 528 Order of the Easter Star in Terre Haute, Order of the White Shrine # 7, and the Estrabrook Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.
She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, and reading her Bible.
Services are at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville, with Pastor Perry Mager officiating. Burial is in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Parke County. Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Gooch Funeral Home. Memorials, should friends so desire, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 9135 N.
