Lester A. Nolte Sr., 81, of Brazil, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at his residence. He had been in failing health for several years.
Born Dec. 21, 1921, in Clay County, he was the son of Emanuel and Lottie McCullough Nolte.
He graduated from Reelsville High School and was a life-long carpenter and farmer until his retirement in 1989 due to health problems. He worked for the late John Pell and the late Fred Emmert.
He was a 50-year member of the Knightsville Masonic Lodge 409.
On Oct. 27, 1956, he married Violet Grogan, who survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irene Tener.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Lester Nolte Jr. and his partner Kimberly Faulke; a daughter, Sabena Corbin and husband Robert; a stepson, Arthur Wells and wife Beverly; two step-daughters, Brenda Ziels and husband William and Sandra Jones and friend Rob Frazier, all of Brazil; six grandchildren, Nancy Hyde, Arthur Wells Jr., Chad Nolte, Christy Nolte, Joshua Corbin and Dylan Joseph Nolte; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Harold Tener, of Indianapolis; several nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in French Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Sampson officiating. Burial will be in Cottage Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. and again Wednesday prior to services. A Masonic service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m.
