Douglas M. Leland, 59, of Clay City, formerly of Martinsville, died at 5: 45 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at his residence.
He was born on March 7, 1944, in Saginaw, Mich., the son of Merle and Beatrice Wagner Leland, who preceded him in death.
He married Juanita Morgan Leland on Oct. 12, 1996, in Patricksburg; she survives.
He retired from Earl Grey and Son Plumbing and Heating on Dec. 18, 1998. He was previously self-employed in the heating and cooling business.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a life member of the Galesburg, Ill., VFW, a past 7th District commander and the past commander of the American Legion Post 479, VFW Post 1405 and the DAV.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Stan, and one sister, Charlene.
Other survivors include one son, Brian Keith Leland of Bloomington, Ill.; three daughters, Laurie Coryell and husband Eric of Mackinaw, Ill., Kimberly Robertson and husband Rob of Speer, Ill., and Lyndea McLaren and husband Justin of Galesburg, Ill.; one stepson, Daniel J. Morgan of Clay City; nine grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with Albert L. Riggle officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Danville National Cemetery. Military services will be performed by the American Legion Post 210, Danville, Ill. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday.
