Robert W. Kempf Sr., 73, of Cloverdale, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 7, 1930, in Brazil, the son of John William Kempf and Marie M. Wells Kempf.
He married Stephanie Evelyn "Peppy" Zaborski Kempf on April 30, 1954; she preceded him in death on July 22, 1993.
He was a pipefitter/steamfitter and a member of Pipefitters & Steamfitters Local No. 157, Terre Haute, and of the Eagles Lodge in Brazil. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the 66th Tank Battalion.
Survivors include Johnny Kempf and fianceé Debra L. Book of Cloverdale, Ernie O. Kempf of Cloverdale and David Kempf and wife Nicole of Greencastle; one sister, Betty Dunshee and husband Orville of High Ridge, Mo.; one brother, Ira "Doc" Kempf and wife Sandy of Canton, Maine; a special friend, Carol Baker of Cloverdale; several nieces and nephews; and seven grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert W. "Bobby" Kempf Jr. on Jan. 20, 1996; one sister, Barbara Neville; and one brother, Ernie Kempf.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cloverdale Cemetery.
