Mildred Jacks, 87, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, in her home in Phoenix, Ariz.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1915, in Clay City to Emma and John N. Niswonger. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1933 and was married in 1941.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Valton Jacks of Phoenix in 1990; a sister, Pauline McKinney of Brazil; and two brothers, Burr L. Niswonger of Terre Haute and Winford W. Niswonger of Brazil.
She is survived by a sister, Virginia Overstreet of Kerrville, Texas; a sister-in-law, Margaret Niswonger of Terre Haute; two sons, John Gregory Jacks and Michael Scot Jacks; and a daughter, Virginia Lee "Ginger" Johnson, all of the Phoenix area; nine grandchildren, Walter Jacks, Michele Johnson, Melody Titus, Sharon Johnson, Rebecca Lawson, Timothy Jacks, Louisa Heller, Peter Jacks and Matthew Jacks; nieces and nephews, Robert McKinney, James McKinney, Richard McKinney and Betty Niswonger-Green of Brazil, Barbara McCallie of Brazil and Mission, Texas, David Niswonger of Terre Haute, Karen Zablocki Johnson of Tulsa, Okla., and Bill Overstreet of Sunnyvale, Calif.
Graveside services were be in Pheonix on Friday.
