Ira "Wayne" Corbin, 93, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2003 in Holly Hill Health Care, Brazil.

Born on June 3, 1910, to James M. Corbin and Effie Johnson Corbin, he was a lifelong resident of Clay County.

On Jan. 12, 1931, he was united in marriage to Marion G. Barnhart Corbin in Paris, Illinois. She preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 1980.

He was a retired coal miner. He worked for the Ayrshire and Amax Coal Companies for 44 years. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #541 of Brazil for over 50 years and a 70 year member of the United Mine Workers Union.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Gregory M. Corbin, and one sister, Gladys Corbin Stitzle.

Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Corbin and his wife, Magdalene, of Ashland, Ohio, and James B. Corbin and his wife, Sue Ann, of Terre Haute, six grandchildren, three great grandsons, one sister, Moyne Trout of Phoenix, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be in Miller Memorial Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Bro. Doug Parkey officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute. Visitation will be one hour before services. The Chapel will open at 8 a.m. Friday for anyone wishing to pay their respects before visitation.
