Alberta I. Nichols Sindlinger, 86, of Plainfield, Ind., died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, in Clarion Health Hospice at Indianapolis.

Born Sept. 25, 1917, in Poland, she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Rubeck Nichols. She married Oscar O. J. "Jerry" Sindlinger in 1936. He preceded her in death in 2002.

She was a graduate of Indiana State University and was an elementary school teacher at schools in Plainfield, Clinton, Ind., and Brazil.

Memberships included the Plainfield Lady Elks.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Daubenspeck and Debbie Proctor; a son, Dr. Stephen Sindlinger; a brother, Herschel Nichols; two sisters, Marjorie and Kathleen Nichols; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Plainfield United Methodist Church; she was a longtime member of the church.

Dr. Ann Glass will officiate.

Calling will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in Hall Baker Funeral Home, 339 E. Main St., Plainfield. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
