Esther M. Jackson, 80, of Greencastle, died Wednesday at her daughter's residence.
The daughter of Samuel R. Strait and Charlotte Irene (Nichols) Strait, she was born on Oct. 19, 1923, in Indianapolis. She was married to Clarence Donavon McCammack, who preceded her in death on July 29, 2003.
She worked as a cook in the Greencastle Care Center.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Kay Burkett and husband Melvin, of Greencastle, and Connie Jo Glover and husband Ken, of Greencastle; One stepdaughter, Velma Crowe, of Poland, Ind.; Two sons, Clifford Eugene Jackson and wife Phyllis, of Brazil, and Darrell Lee Jackson and wife Terri, of Greencastle; Two sisters, Norma Jean Barger and husband Hiram, of Greencastle, and Edith Temklewicz and husband Frank, of Avon, Oh., and 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and infant daughter and an infant son, and two sisters: Phyllis Louse Owen and Ada M. Johnson.
Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. Services will take place on Saturday 1:20 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home, with Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Cloverdale Cemetary.
