Francis South Jr., 60, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at his Edinburgh, Ind., residence.
Born Jan. 30, 1943, in Brazil, he was the son of Francis South Sr. and Nellie Winn South of Brazil.
He married Mary Lou Wrightsman on Dec. 29, 1961, in Brazil. She is deceased.
He attended school in Brazil and was employed by Littleton & Son Sand & Supply Co., Indianapolis, as a truck driver from July 1991 until his death. He was known by all of his friends as the "Chicken Thief."
Memberships included the YY Saddle Club of Edinburgh, Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association and Spotted Saddle Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association.
Survivors include two sons, Francis "Lucky" W. South III of Edinburgh and Cody Overbay of Knightsvtown, Ind.; a daughter, Robin Korschgen of Keokuk, Iowa; two brothers, Tommy of Terre Haute and Bill of Ohio; three sisters, Charlene Kelly of Columbus, Ind., Beverly Hopper of Las Vegas, Nev. and Nina Hylton; and five grandchildren, Misty White, Jonathan White, Wendi South, Melissa South and Destiny Korschgen.
The Rev. Walter Howard conducted a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at Flinn and Maquire Funeral Home in Franklin, Ind. Burial was in Valhalia Cemetery in Bloomington, Ind.
