Frances E. Meyer, 98, of Bowling Green died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at 8:20 p.m. in Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility, Knightsville.
Born July 21, 1905, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Urzinus and Zula Cordella "Dell" Kellum Sendmeyer.
She taught school at the former Poland School before marrying Arthur E. Meyer on June 9, 1929. He preceded her in death in December of 1988. She enjoyed being a homemaker, sewing, gardening and canning.
Memberships included Zion United Church of Christ in Poland and Washington Township Home Extension Club, where she was a charter member, and Eastern Star for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Marion Sendmeyer and Glendon Sendmeyer; a sister, Mary Jane Records; two brothers-in-law, Arlo Rumbaugh and Ralph Records; a son-in-law, Virgil L. Royer; a granddaughter, Alice Jo Royer; a sister-in-law, Esther M. Strauch and her husband, Ross; and a grandson-in-law, Mike Grey.
Survivors include three daughters, Doris M. Romas and husband, Robert R. "Bob", of Brazil, Norma Staley and husband, Edward, of Clay City and Francella Royer of Brazil; two sisters, Wilma Moon of Peru, Ind. and Edna Rumbaugh of Speedway, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Betty Sendmeyer of Greencastle; seven grandchildren, Janet Grey, Carol Koehler and husband, Larry, Dale Royer and wife, Pam, Randy Staley and wife, Nancy, Rick Staley and wife, Marianne, Rita May and husband, Don, Rhonda Rasor and husband, James; four step-grandchildren, Cliff Romas and wife, Lori, Randy Romas and wife, Mari, Holly Romas and Hope Dalton and husband, Brett; 19 great-grandchildren, nine stepgreat-grandchildren; a stepgreat-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in French Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Schory officiating. Burial will be in Poland Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. with Eastern Star Services at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Larry Koehler, Dale Royer, Rick Staley, Randy Staley, James Rasor and Don May. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Moon and Dee Moon.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Poland Zion Cemetery Fund or to the Poland Zion United Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
