Betty Joan Stout, 74, of Brazil, formerly a resident of Colfax, Wash., died at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, in St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

Born Nov. 10, 1929, in Brazil, she was the daughter of Herbert L. and Mattie E. Freeman Haney, who are deceased.

She attended grade school in Terre Haute and was a graduate of East Glenn High School. In 1993, she moved to Teoka, Wash., and then to Colfax, returning to Brazil in June.

A homemaker, she also worked as a truck driver, a waitress in the former Blue Bonnet Restaurant and a caregiver.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Haney and a son, Tony Cave.

Surviving are seven daughters, Brenda Everett and Michael Knauer of Greencastle, Sandra Kay "Cindy" Thrail of Crown Point, Ind., Nellie Marie "Liz" Pierce of Flora City, Fla., Tammy Americano and husband, Raul, of Fontana, Calif., Tina Glasgow of Teoka, Wash., Terrie Jo Turner of Indiana and Sherrie Cave of Inverness, Fla.; a son, James Adams and wife, Vicki, of Paris, Ill.; two sisters, Sharon Esquival and Linda Yon, both of Atlanta, Ga.; 18 grandchildren, Raul II, Lynda, Khrystopher, Khrystyna, Jill, Candice, Keeley, Katie, Kelly, Matthew, Brythany, Samantha, Nickolas, Alexis, Hannah, Jeremy, Joe and Michelle, seven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jenna, Yasmine, James, Sara, Lonny and Trenton; and a daughter-in-law, Debi Cave of Bay Point, Calif.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lawson-Slack Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cottage Hill Cemetery, Brazil.

Visitation will be Friday, 11 a.m. until service time.
