Ralph E. Drake, 68, of Brazil, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, after an illness.
Born June 13, 1935, in Vigo County, he was the son of William and Jeannetta Spurr Drake.
He graduated from VanBuren High School, Class of 1953, and retired from Allison's in Indianapolis.
Following retirement, he worked for Hunter Oil as a semi-driver.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Maesch Drake; two daughters and a son, Lori Furrer and husband, Jim, Vicki King and husband, Earl, and Russell Drake, all of Brazil; nine grandchildren, Sunny Shaw, Joshua King and wife, Sharlene, Brandy Brown and husband, Eric, Tiffany King, Whitney King, Kevin Drew Drake, Samantha Drake, Cary Drake, Gage Drake; three great-grandchildren, Donavon and Tyler Brown and James King; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Frank Garrison, Barbara and Sheldon Oberholtzer, Patricia and John Herbert and Donna and Mike Baysinger; father-in-law, Paul Maesch of Staunton; many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Geraldine Glaziner and Deanna Stievenart; and two brothers, Burk Drake and Fred Drake.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in French Funeral Home with Brother Doug Parkey officiating. Burial will follow in Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to services.
