Betty Maxine Kunkel, 79, of Brazil died at 5:47 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2003 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
Betty was born December 8, 1924 in Brazil, Indiana. She was the daughter of George and Clara McIntire Howard. She graduated from Brazil High School. She married Amos Edward Kunkel October 31, 1942. She attended Ebenezer Church and was a past Matron of Brazil Order of Easter Star No. 80.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband who died April 6, 1986; five sisters, Dorothy Wesley, Lelia E. Howard, Sarah Alice Howard, Alice Lucille Howard and Violet Dale Howard and two brothers, Carl Oliver Howard and Lee Howard.
She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Writtenhouse of Terre Haute, Marsha Helms and husband Kenneth of Terre Haute and Tammy Tharp and husband Shawn of Clay City; two sons, Richard E. Kunkel and wife Joyce of Indianapolis and Randy G. Kunkel and wife Peggy of Angola, Indiana; twenty-two grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 24th at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Bill Price and Pastor Jimmy Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
