Ruth M. Buffington, 86, of Brazil died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Clay Health Center where she had been a patient for more than three years. She previously resided at Cooper Towers.
Born in Kokomo, Ind., on May 18, 1917, her parents were Willis and Kathryn Cassidy Hill. She had been a resident of Brazil most of her life.
She had been employed in custodial positions at the courthouse, the post office and the Indiana National Guard Armory.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles; her father and mother; a brother and wife, James and Helen Hill; and a sister, Marietta Kerr.
Survivors include a brother and his wife, Norman W. and Helen Hill, of Whiting, Ind.; five nieces, Peggy, Patti, Elizabeth, and also Kathryn Baran, of Whiting, and Mary Katherine Kerr Tzitz of Brazil; six nephews, Harold, Claudie, Jimmy, Ritchie and Woody Hill, all of Brazil, and Norman Hill of Whiting; three cousins, James Cassidy and wife, Lois, John Cassidy and wife, Carol, and Lois Stigler, all of Brazil.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Miller Memorial Chapel. Pastor Jacob B. Raubach will officiate and interment will be in Cottage Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
