John J. Lynch, 97, of Brazil, died at 4:06 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, in Clay County Health Center.
Born Feb. 26, 1906, in Brazil, he was the son of Hugh Lynch and Etta Fisher Lynch.
His wife, Evelyn Sheperd, whom he married June 6, 1947, preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1992.
He owned and operated Lynch Brothers Grocery 1934-1978. He began selling mums with his wife and son and continued to assist his son, Tom, with the operation of Lynch's Greenhouse well after retirement.
He was an avid and professional gardener.
Survivors include his son, Thomas Ray Lynch, of Brazil; a sister, Jennie Glenn Nicoson, of Brazil; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hugh Lynch and Lester Lynch; and five sisters, Helena Foreman, Mary Cagle, Myrtle Britton, Maxine Burk and Annie Lynch.
Memberships included Bee Ridge Congregational Christian Church and the National Chrysanthemum Society.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, in French Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
