Roy Edward Morlan, 80 of Reelsville, died December 27, 2003, in North Carolina.

Roy was born November 30, 1923, in Parke County near Lena, Indiana. He was the son of Bryan Jennings Morlan and Minnie Taylor Morlan who have both preceded him in death. He was a farmer on his own farm.

He had been a member of the local Eagles Lodge. He also enjoyed fishing and playing several different musical instruments including the guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica and piano.

His parents; one sister, Lucille Morlan and one brother, Ray Bryan Morlan, preceded him in death.

His wife, Lucille Halfhill Morlan, who he married August 28, 1943, survives him. He is also survived by three daughters, Diane Thornton and husband James of Fayetteville, NC, Shirley Evans of Palm Harbor, FL and Cheryl Steuerwald and husband Bob of Brazil; five grandchildren, Chip Hunt, Jeremy Evans, Jessica Evans, Brian Steuerwald, and James Gruskin; and five great grandchildren, Austin Hunt, John Gruskin, Elizabeth Gruskin, Stormy Evans, and Christopher Gruskin.

Visitation will be 4 -- 8 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday with burial to follow at Croys Creek Cemetery. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
