Esther E. Gottsche, 90, of Indianapolis, formerly of Brazil, died at 6:51 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, in Community Hospital South, Indianapolis.
A homemaker, devoted mother and grandmother, she was born Feb. 1, 1913, in Colona, Ill.
Her parents were Charles and Hattie Burg Westlund and she was a 1931 graduate of East Moline (Ill.) High School.
She married Elon S. Gottsche on Feb. 16, 1935, in Sterling, Ill. Later, they moved to Clay County. She was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church, the Van Buren Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, the Candlelite Campers Club and the Home Circle Homemakers Club, all of Clay County.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1999; a son, Clyde, on Dec. 19, 2003, and his wife, Eva R. Garrison Gottsche in 1997; four sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors inlcude a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Vaughn Love, of Greenwood, Ind.; a son and his wife, David and Mary Jane Gottsche, of Brazil; eight grandchildren, Clydia "Jody" Grey and husband, Ron, Debra Gottsche, Rick Gottsche and wife, Mary, all of Brazil; Julie Gottsche of Indianapolis, Emily Holston and husband, Josh, of Rockledge, Fla., Amy Gottsche of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Melissa Henderson and husband, Bill, of Greenwood, Ind., and Jeffrey Love and wife, Christy, of Indianapolis; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews, cousins; and a sister-in-law.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Miller Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Kumpf officiating and interment will be in Calcutta Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
